Summary
Featuring a special introduction written for the audiobook edition and read by the author
A Radio 4 Book Club Selection.
A Short History of Nearly Everything is Bill Bryson's fascinating and humorous quest to understand everything that has happened from the Big Bang to the rise of civilization. He takes subjects that normally bore the pants off most of us, like geology, chemistry, and particle physics, and aims to render them comprehensible to people who have never thought they could be interested in science. In the company of some extraordinary scientists, Bill Bryson reveals the world in a way most of us have never seen it before.

Amazing
I've listened to it twice and also bought the paperback in swedish to better grasp all the amazing facts that are presented in this book. Not saying that it is difficult to understand the language in the book but translation of some scientific terms are better left to a professional. It is well-written and well-narrated. A genuine must-have book.

Great audiobook
A really well researched, comprehensive and informative introduction to science. The only thing I struggled with in this otherwise amazing audiobook was William Roberts attempting an Australian accent.

Brief by name... Complete and compelling by nature
What did you like most about A Short History of Nearly Everything?
The narration - William Roberts is incredibly easy to listen to, and he gets across the science very well.
Have you listened to any of William Roberts’s other performances? How does this one compare?
No first time
If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Visually stunning - in an audible kind of way
Any additional comments?
I have had the book version of Brief History for some time now, and never got into it.. So this audible version is quite remarkable in its instantly captivating appeal. So much so I am now listening to it AGAIN.. Bryson captures the key points in life's history and makes them accessible to the common, unscientific audience with aplomb. Fantastic.

What a pleasure!
Bill Bryson does a marvellous job packing all that information into his book and making it so immensely readable for people like me who tend to shun anything to do with physics and natural science. And the narrator is simply wonderful: 19 hours and not once does one tire of his voice, he manages to make one want to keep listening with his lively yet never forced way of narrating.

Fantastically researched and extremely well read
So much technical information, it must have needed an army of researchers. Bill Bryson has then made it into a story bribngng it to life in his own unique style of writing.
The reading performance was one of the best I've heard, quotes are given their own character. A thoroughly enjoyable listen

Tough going but I learnt "stuff"
It covers just about every aspect of the the worlds history (clue in the title) so it covered a lot of subjects that I am not familiar with in a way that I could understand or at least accept.

Amazing book
One of my favourite books ever. No disrespect intended but I honestly think that this would be considerably better with a British narrator.
